

Herbert H .Heinz, aged 87, of Grand Rapids and Port Sheldon, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 with family nearby. Herb is preceded by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joyce Heinz who passed away in 2011. Surviving are his daughter, Kristel Heinz-Ciullo and her husband, Herb's son-in-law, Valentino Ciullo, step-grandsons Cameron, Scott, and Marc Ciullo and step-great grandchildren, Maisie and Kendra Ciullo. He is also survived by his sister Inge Hoppe, brother Kurt Heinz, sisters-in-law Elaine Carsok and Dianne (Frank) Gorman, and several nieces and nephews. Herb served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and was active in the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28. Herb had a long and rewarding professional career with Old Kent Bank, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. In his retirement he enjoyed walking, rowing and was a passionate reader. Joyce and Herb were also very active in their church, North Park Presbyterian, and enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Port Sheldon. Herb will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving spouse and father. Visitation has been scheduled at the Reyers North Valley Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015. An additional hour of visitation will be held at North Park Presbyterian Church (500 North Park Street N.E. Grand Rapids) prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 with Rev. Helen Havlik officiating. Private interment will take place in Blythefield Memory Gardens. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Holland Home at Fulton Manor for the compassionate care given to Herb over the last 4 years. For those who wish, memorials may be made to North Park Presbyterian Church, Santa Claus Girls, and Humane Society of West Michigan.
