

Ian Robertson Lockwood, age 48, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2011, in Blodgett Hospital with his family gathered around him. Born October 4, 1963, in Bloomington, Indiana, he lived most of his life in Grand Rapids. He was a 1981 graduate of East Grand Rapids High School, a gentle, fun-loving spirit and friend to many. In spite of health difficulties, he enjoyed life and maintained a positive attitude and an unfailing sense of humor. He loved Bostwick Lake, spent summers of his childhood there and lived near the lake through much his adult life. Ian was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Lockwood, his grandparents George and Nan Gallacher, and his grandmother Betty Lockwood. He is survived by his son Max Lockwood, his sisters Alison Manning (fiancé Ben Lantz), Susan and Katie Lockwood, his brother Matt (Debbie) Lockwood, his father Walter (Pam) Lockwood, his grandfather Lee Lockwood, numerous uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, and multitudes of cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Reyers North Valley Chapel with Rev. Dennis TeBeest and Rev. Harold Porter officiating. Visitation will be held from both 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staffs of Blodgett, Butterworth, Kent Community Hospitals and Ian’s visiting nurses and therapists for the compassion and care they showed to him.
