A little anecdote I had written and Aunt Ruth thought I should share...
FISH TALES - TALL TALES
My FIRST and LAST fishing trip all happened in one day.  It was with Uncle Jack.  I may not remember all the details exactly, but the only emotion I remember strongly, even after all these years - embarrassment (I was 17) 
I was being taught how to cast, but didn't CATCH on too easily - but then made a big CATCH - Uncle Jack - right in the ear lobe!  Being the teaser that he was he was yelping Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!  Not knowing what all the yelling was about I pulled and reeled and pulled some more...
So since that day I have spared fish and fishermen any grief and nicely stayed clear of fishing rods, thanks to Uncle Jack!
If you have ever wondered if that piercing in Uncle Jack's ear was from secretly wearing an earring, the answer is NO!   Unless Aunt Ruth knows otherwise..

We are so sorry.  As much as we already understand that it is far better to be absent from the body, present with the Lord, that doesn't remove the feeling of emptiness for those left here. It was a privilege to get to know Uncle Jack when I was a teenager. I will always remember his great big smile and his wonderful sense of humour! My heart reaches out to all of you who will miss him so much. May you feel God's comfort.

"The Lord is at hand.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. As you face the days ahead, we will continue to pray that you will be comforted.  He promises to keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Thankfully, He is at hand, and encompasses all of the virtues found in verse eight.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I really liked your husband and father Jack. He was a good guy. I remember when he and my father Steve Mc Evoy would go hunting with each other. I'm very good friends with his son Kevin and I still miss Kevin and think about him.

Never having the opportunity to meet Jack in person but knowing him by knowing the two of you did give me a picture of the Godly man that he was. You both spoke so highly and lovingly when ever he was referred to. My prayers for God and His mercy will be your uplifting support

Brother Jack is unspeakably happy now!

Jack brought so many happy moments into our life and left us with many treasured memories. The friendship started in high school and lasted a lifetime. We will always remember his quick smile and the stories that he loved to tell. We will always recall the good times shared on the trip down route 66 and the trip to the Bahamas. We remember the many hunting trips and the beagles that we had. We will always remember the fantastic garage sales and the fun we shared.  My children remember Jack for his smile and that he always had a joke he wanted to tell them or a collection of things to share with them. He loved making people smile and bring laughter in their lives even in the difficult times. Through life's journey he was an outstanding Christian man and was quick to share his trust and faith in the Lord. He was the most remarkable man that I have ever known. He will truly be missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers will continue for Ruth and the family during these difficult times.

I remember many hours of playing with the guy who was about the same age as me when we were kids.  Though I have not seen him for years, Jack was active in my memory and will remain so.  My best to Ruth and the kids.  George

Jack was a brother in the Lord who was greatly beloved. He was a faithful husband, a faithful father, and a faithful friend. Pam and I enjoyed our stay with him, Ruth and Kevin in their home some years ago. He will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered for the life he has lived, and the love he has lavished on others. We never see each other for the last because as Christians, we shall meet again We shall continue to pray for the family.

The Word of God tells us to boast not on tomorrow for we know not what a day may bring. Kevin, I distinctly remember one of your email updates/prayer requests re: your medical trials mentioned your dad had to go for tests; and then we received one that told us he had cancer. I had to read it twice to be sure I read it correctly.  Who knew that the man who so lovingly drove and accompanied his son, Kevin, to his medical treatments and appointments would be ushered home this quickly.  Kevin, thank you for sharing your dad with us.  While I never met him I felt I knew him through your email posts - which are always so encouraging because you display what TRUSTING IN THE LORD truly means. You encourage me to do it more in my life. I look forward to meeting Jack, in Glory; that's for sure!  With Christian love and a heart full of hope in the Lord, this sentiment is being sent to you ALL!

I did not know Jack, but knew Ruth,  from bible study fellowship and was in my group.  Ruth, my prayers are for you and your family during this tough time.

Jack was my first Bible Study Fellowship leader a year ago.  Jacks love for God was evident.  I had never met someone who was more bold their desire to share the gospel.  Even in his illness he maintained that boldness.  He is now with his Master...no more sickness, no more pain.  God bless his wife, children and grandchildren all of whom he loved!

Jack was good to me and helped me in a great time of need- which was the tail end of a nasty lawsuit.

Jack always had a smile that was bright and open. He always had a joke for everyone, even the kids. Jack's jokes made us think and laugh with his wit and sense of humor. The day has become a little dimmer for a man that was so full of love, giving, and humor. Jack was a great family man and a good friend to have in your corner. Jack will be sorely missed.

Our deepest sympathies to Ruth Morel Quartell at the homegoing of Jack and to your entire family.  Jack is now whole and well in the presence of His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I knew him and his sister from school and I used to work with Jack at Hartford Ins. Company. He was a great guy.
