Jacklyn Lee Johnson

Jackie was born on February 14, 1933, in Muskegon, MI and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1951 in the top ten percent of her class. She maintained close friendships with her peers throughout her lifetime, organizing class reunions for over 50 years.

Jackie married her High School sweetheart, John Johnson, on June 13, 1953 and worked as a homemaker for many years while supporting John during his time in the Marine Corps and his career.

After moving to East Grand Rapids, she eventually became the library secretary at East High School and retired after many years of service. Even after retirement she was an avid follower of East Football and would bake touchdown cookies for every home game. Her EGR neighbors called her Gramma Jackie and kids would always knock on her door for a gumball or a cookie, and the neighborhood pets knew she'd always have a treat for them, too. She loved animals and would befriend every cat and dog she met.

Jackie loved spending time with her family, and would attend all sporting and musical events for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Other interests included spending time at the beach and knitting. Jackie was well known for her knitted "booties" that were a source of comfort to all those who received them as gifts over the years.

Jackie was loved by so many and and her presence will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband, John Johnson; children, Mark Johnson (Jane) and Linda DeYoung (Tom); grandchildren, Jason Johnson (Kelly), Tim Johnson (KC), Sarah Hong (Marcus), and Jeff DeYoung (Anissa); great grandchildren, Grady, Logan, Sloane, Gwen, Abby and Ty.

The family would like to thank Corewell Hospice and especially her caregivers, Toya and Brianca for the excellent care and the kindness they showed to Jackie.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
