Jacqueline was born in Grand Rapids on January 10, 1949 to John Thomas and Nellie Rose (Barretta) Bergman. She graduated from Creston high school in 1968, the same year as her twin brother Robert. She married William Valentine on April 14, 1973.
In life Jacqueline, or “Jackie,” as she was known, was a kind, caring person who loved spending time with her family. She was a proud grandma and cherished getting to know each of her 5 grandchildren.
Jacqueline worked for years at Meijer and was heavily involved in the union as a steward. She was very passionate and liked to argue people’s cases at the union. In the words of her kids, she could have been a lawyer.
In her spare time Jacqueline loved crafting, gardening, and trying new recipes from different cook books. She also enjoyed doing word searches and trivia games. She always enjoyed watching the Today Show as well as Jeopardy and The Price is Right. She loved angels and her favorite holiday was Christmas. She especially loved her dog Ginger who became a support dog for her and her husband.
Jacqueline is survived by her children; William Jr, Candace (Isaac), Sheena (Ricky); her siblings; Robert (Carol) Bergman (her twin), Sam (Debi), Chuck (Nancy), Janice (Colin), and Steve (Patricia Friebe); and her 5 grandchildren Tyler Versluis, Noah Versluis, Alexzander Valentine, Addilyn Ingham, and Kelsie Valentine. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William; and her parents John and Nellie.
