James Edward Bodbyl

Jim was born on May 4, 1925 in Grand Rapids to John E. and Minnie Bodbyl. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 66 years, Dorothy Johnson Bodbyl. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a committed family man who loved spending time with his family and making memories. Jim was a loving, patient and caring man who will be deeply missed by his close friends and family.

Jim is survived by his children: Carol Bodbyl; Jim Elliott (Raen Anne) Bodbyl; Janet (Larry) Campbell; and Nancy (Dean) Counselman. Grandchildren: Jimmy (Libby) Bodbyl; Marcie (Brian) Schaab; Dana (Cody) Green; Jay Bodbyl; Alex Counselman; Sarah (John) Kerrish; and Andrea (TJ) Barnes. Great grandchildren; Brody and Emily Bodbyl; Maya, Nick, and Alexa Schaab; Grier, Payton, and Milo Green; Chloe and Jordyn Kerrish; and Malcolm Barnes. Sister in-law Virginia Bodbyl and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, 49505. A Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00am, also at the funeral home. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park.
