I can't believe it has already been five years since Ma Green passed away.  Lost my mom three months later.  2018 was an extremely sad year.  Will never forget either of these wonderful ladies.

     We lost you one year ago this Monday April 1st. Missing you more everyday. My beautiful mother I will never forget you. I miss you cooking in the kitchen and telling me to be quiet so you can concentrate. Writing down every recipe off of TV, saving endless newspaper articles and writing my name on them. I have so many things I want to tell you.  I turn to call you every time. I miss my friend someone to always turn to someone to always talk to someone who is always there who always gave advice even when I didn't want it. I do find comfort in knowing that you are not suffering anymore. You are not in pain, that you are not scared,
that you are not  miserable in your surroundings. I love you so much. I know you're waiting for Dad but we need him a little while longer.......

One final entry for me.  I love you Mom and really miss talking to you on the phone from Tennessee. Thank you for loving me and all of us so unconditionally.  Today while thinking of you, I took a long walk in the rain to clear my head and talk with God.  I know you were listening too and were telling me it's time to stop feeling sorry for myself. That's what we all need to do (I know) but it's starting to set in now that you're really gone. We'll meet again in Heaven one Glorious day for sure but in the mean time we'll try to get by without you.  Mom, I will cherish and always remember all the great, funny, loving, and meaningful memories we had together.  Here's a few of many countless ones off the top of my head...hiding under the basement stairs during tornado warnings, weekend tostado party's, your fuzzy water at Mousey's cabin, pickin' my black heads, your special pigs in a blanket, your driving lesson down Java road that almost ended up in the creek, always being there for Matthew and Mindy, taking us swimming to Brigg's park pool when we were kids, your killer baked bean casserole,  accepting all our faults and loving us in spite of them, always being there for Dad especially through the tough times, taking your little boys for walks to the Five & Dime, Tilly's and Kroon's, riding downtown on the bus, sacrificing for Amy when she was four after her heart surgery, laughing so hysterically while watching "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", helping and teaching me to wall paper our first house and plant a garden, painting my large old storage trunk green that you bought for me (I still keep my childhood stash in it), hand sewing my toy Spiderman's costume over and over, being so proud and happy to become a grandmother and great grandmother, dressing us for church and Easter, walking me to kindergarten my first day and especially for picking me back up. Waaah!😭
Mom,  thanks most of all for the inspiration your faith in the Lord gave me.  Love ya forever,  Bob

As promised found the pics I took when Vicki and I stayed with Ma and Pa Green at the cabin back in August of 1979. This is the only pic I took of Ma Green.  I remember catching her by surprise when I snapped it.

Always will be thankful my Mom (and Dad who got me started) put up with my music while I was growing up. Appreciated all the support and encouragement as I'm not sure many other parents would have been able to put up with so much racket. 🎶🎸🥁🎙🎹🎤🔊🎵 Especially during my high school days when Batwipe and the Dead Fish were in the house rehearsing.  😲 AHHHH!

what was my mom   wife mother and friend. when dad was at work she was home running the home front, cooking cleaning caring for us kids.she later in life went back to school to graduate we were so proud of her. then she went to work caring for people in need .a huge high-lite in her life was when she had he daughter Amy who would become her best friend. when she became grandma and she was always proud of all of her grand children. lets all remember the good times and celebrate her life as she did each and every day .by mom we love you. 

Growing up and having Bob Jr as my best friend was indeed a blessing... because  I got to meet the remainder of the Green clan and became friends with everyone of them as well.  And when I think of Johanna I think of those wonderful tostados she used to make for everyone.  I always looked forward to visiting Ma and Pa Green...  they always made me feel welcomed and right at home.  I was very touched when Bob Jr told me his ma had never forgotten about that Chinese lamp I bought in Wellston 40 something years ago.  I feel with Johanna's passing another piece of my youth has become part of the ages.
My heart goes out to the entire Green family... especially to King Batwipe (Bob Sr).  All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your mom was a great aunt to all of us when we were kids❤️ Very sorry for your loss. Her sisters and brothers are all laughing in heaven  and tipping one for all us Irish ones left on this earth.    Gods blessings. Love. Mike and Jo Ellen Bennett

Things that made mom happy.......
Being with dad, family, gardening, animals, cooking, baking and being outside. She loved being home....coffee, crocs, with a garden shovel in her hand. 

Hi again Mom,
When I told you last Saturday you didn't have to keep hanging on any more and that it was OK to leave us and walk into the open arms of the Lord, I meant it, although I have to admit the selfishness in me was still hoping and praying for a miracle.
The dialysis treatments may have prolonged your struggle as you battled relentlessly until the end but we are so very grateful and blessed we still had you to ourselves for a couple more great and wonderful years. I also think too about Naomi (5) and Hannah (6) with birthdays coming up again next month, being so very young and having the privilege of getting to know you even better. They will definitely have many more loving memories of you that they otherwise may had not.
Thank you too Mom for loving Tally so much and making her feel  special and part of our family.  You would always ask about her condition whenever I called you and I really appreciated that because she has been through so much herself the last couple of years.
Also, I love you for always being there for me no matter what.
You always were such a good listener and I know you still will be.
I'm gonna miss your funny response too when you'd answer the phone to hear me say... "WHERE'S MY MA.....?" 😁

How do I loose my best friend. You were always there to talk to and  I knew you would always tell me the truth bluntly.  Your advice was, "do the best you can do, that's all you can do and don't worry so much." Thanks for all the nice holidays, birthdays, you  always made everything so nice for us.  I hope Hannah will feel the same way about me someday.  I know where you are and you are at peace..Dad will find you. 
       
Thank you Dad for taking care of mom as long as you did. She was able to be at home longer because of you. I thought she was the strongest but you were just unbelievable through it all.

I will always cherish the memories of going over to Grandpa and Grandmas house! When me and Kendall spent the night Grandma would always make us chicken and dumplings or perogies.  We fought over who would get to use the cool wolf jam jar as a cup so grandma made sure to get more just for us. Before Christmas it was our tradition to make giant green and red popcorn balls (Even though I always made a  mess).  I am so lucky to have had such an amazing grandmother. Thank you and rest in peace, you deserve it.

Tally and I know you're in a better place, in Heaven now with the good Lord, looking down on all of us now and smiling in your new glorified pain free body. Every birthday card I ever got from my grandparents had a penny taped on it from Grandpa and a little curly headed smiley face drawn on it by Grandma.

I will miss those little curly smiles!  As simple as it sounds, it was one of the ways I knew I was loved!!!

Look at this big, beautiful family that you and Grandpa have created. We’ve all learned so much from you. You’ve always been such a smart, brave, loving, caring, thoughtful, dependable, classy, beautiful, and funny mother and grandmother. 

Going to Grandpa and Grandma’s house, for me, always meant feeling welcome and loved — and leaving with a full belly and a happy heart. Your kindness, wisdom, wit, and sense of humor will always be missed. 

Your unwavering Faith, even in difficult times, has been a beautiful thing to witness.  A person’s faith is truly tested, not when things are easy — but when we’re really struggling. You asked God to help you, and He brought you Home on a day of such spiritual significance. 

I imagine you in Heaven now, reunited with your baby girl — teaching her how to make bread and cookies and cake. Have your cake and eat it too, Grandma! 

How lucky we’ve all been to have you in our lives. You’ve been such a blessing, and I thank God for you. We’ll all see you again one day. We love you.

My Grandma Green was an amazing person who always spoke her mind, and she took crap from absolutely no one.  So when she said she loved you, you knew it was true.  She put up with a lot over the years from her health problems and her wild and crazy family.  And she held on longer and through a lot more than most people could have. I can honestly say she had the most fight in her of any person I have ever known!  I think it was because she loved her family so fiercely, she didn't want to leave us.   

We will all be okay Grandma, you don't have to worry about us anymore!  And we'll take care of your sweetheart of 62 years too.  💕

I just wish I could sit on a pillow in front of your chair and get my head scratched again, watching old horror movies and eating a big ice cream sundae.  Or soak my feet in a tub of cold water with you on a hot summer day in Irons.  Or make a big, sticky, green food coloring mess in your kitchen making carmel popcorn Grinch balls. But I will remember these moments always, and you will always be here with me in my heart. 

You don't have to suffer anything anymore, Grandma.  You're free! 🕊
