John Albert Chulski, age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was born in Grand Rapids on December 2, 1928 to John Charles and Helen (Stankey) Chulski. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served at the end of WWII. He retired from Ameritech after 41 years of dedicated service and was a member of St. Aphonsus Catholic Church.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Faye; 3 daughters, Karen (Steve) Salyer, Kathy (Michael) Glynn and Kimberly (Thomas) Sapkowski; 9 grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Ryan and Patrick Salyer, Megan, Daniel, and Thomas Glynn, Peter and Katherine Sapkowski. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and special friends. John was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ted and Herman Chulski and 2 sisters, Genevieve Kalczuk and Virginia Chulski.
A mass of Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St. N.E. with Rev. Patrick Grile C.Ss.R. as celebrant. The family will receive friends at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave. N.E. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 8:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00.
Those desiring are asked to consider a contribution to St. Alphonsus Food Pantry in memory of Mr. Chulski.
