John Martin Mellema aged 87 of Grand Rapids passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Johanna Mellema, his wife Betty Mellema, his son-in-law Butch Sarber and his great-granddaughter Charlotte Sarber. John will be lovingly remembered by his children; Bonnie (David) Zuder, Karen Sarber, Kathy Ybema, special friend Gerry Arthur, sister Jeanette Schultze, grandchildren; Kristi (Becka) Sarber, Amy (Josh) Heald, Shelby (Jeff) Thomas, Brian (Anna) Sarber, Brett (Kathy) Ybema, Stacey (Joe) Cargo, great-grandchildren; Cody and Conner Thomas, Spencer and Patrick Ybema, Juna Heald and nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 12-3 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE.
