Joyce Joann VanDam

Joyce was a graduate of Creston High school and went on to marry the love of her life, Dean VanDam. She and Dean spent nearly 45 years together before his passing in 2000. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed going to the Casino and in her younger years, was a member of a golf league. Most of all, Joyce loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She made sure to attend every event for her grandchildren that she could. She never missed a band concert or soccer game. She was a strong woman with a feisty attitude, but loved deeply. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Dean VanDam; parents, Hanson and Margaret Rogers; and sister, Dorothy (Carl) Alderton.

She is survived by: children, Ken (Anita) VanDam, Kathy VanDam, Karen (Bob) Benzer, and Kraig (Jamie) VanDam; grandchildren, James, Brent, Kristina, Jessica, Jason, Ashley, Christopher, Lindsay, and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Alexis, Dean, Leia, and Ella; sister, Sharon (Ron) Lemke; as well as, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Joyce will be laid to rest at Brooklawn Cemetery in Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
