Kenneth Leroy MacDonald

Kenneth Leroy MacDonald went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 17th, 2024. After several years of battling cancer and heart issues he went to be with his beloved wife of 49 years Claretta Elaine MacDonald who passed away in November of 2012.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 25th, 1941 where he resided until he joined the United States Marine Corps in August 1959. He honorably served his country until August of 1963. Following the service he started his 47 year professional career with F. Raniville & TON-TEX Company.

He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a loyal and faithful servant to God and served as a founding member of Sunshine Chapel which grew to be Sunshine CRC, and currently is a member of New Community Church of Grand Rapids.

Kenneth is survived by: his brother, Clifford “Skip” (wife – Penny) MacDonald of Holland, MI, his loving sister, Trish Walsh (husband – Ralph) of Grand Haven, MI, and his step brother, Mike Young (wife Pam) of Parrish, FL; son, William MacDonald (wife – Mary Jo) of Grand Rapids, MI, daughter, Brenda MacDonald-Marques (husband – Kenny) of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Jennessa, Cierra, Jesse, Alysha, Mason, Kadin, & Zoey; great grandchildren, Sophia, Bentley, Alonso, Oakland, Dakota, Zaniah, Lace, & Larrik.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Athilda “Tilly” & Burton MacDonald; step-mother, Virginia MacDonald; step-brother, Burton “Punchie” MacDonald; Jane Crandall, and brother Glenn MacDonald.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 20th, 2024, at Reyers North Valley Chapel, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Lew VanderMeer, will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 at 11:00 am at Reyers North Valley Chapel. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of the service. Kenneth will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Cascade.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Community Church of Grand Rapids.
