Dave was born in Grand Rapids, MI to parents Kirby and Ruth (Vandernoot) Evans. Dave proudly served in the United States Air Force serving as a boom operator, refueling jets while flying, giving him a thrill he loved seeking. Dave had many loves, including working in car sales from 1970-2005, an avid car lover and knew every make and model of any car he saw. He then loved real estate, working in the industry for several years after. Dave was enamored with Lake Michigan, being known in his free time to be on his boat he owned- cleaning it, working on it, or relaxing on the lake with his family. He was often found looking at boat magazines to learn of the newest models and makes, never tiring to learn of new things. He was always seeking new adventures, going sky diving being something he was very excited to have accomplished.
Most of all, Dave loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely. Married to the love of his life, Linda, for nearly 62 years, he cherished their life. His lessons in hard work, strength, and unconditional love were proudly passed down to his three girls, who he adored.
Lovingly called “Poppy” by his grandchildren, he was so proud of his family. Many memories of boating with Poppy on Lake Michigan rain or shine, feeling his passion and love for the water.
Dave will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda Evans; children Katherine (Geoffrey) Meekhoff and Mary Ann (Brad) Lutz; grandchildren Madison (Hunter) Niederer, Maxwell (Mackenzie) Meekkhoff, Margaret Meekhoff, Chase Lutz and Charles Lutz; great-grandchildren Macklin (Max and Mackenzie) Meekhoff, with two new great-granddaughters on the way. Siblings Linda (Evans) Larsen and Susan (Evans) Sweeris. David was preceded in death by his daughter Angela (Evans) Phillips, and his parents Kirby Evans, Ruth (Vandernoot) Evans. There will be no formal service at the request of Dave.
