Lawrence Lee Stoffer

Lawrence Lee Stoffer was born on December 5, 1953 to Jerry and Maureen Stoffer. He was the oldest of five siblings and grew up on the west side of Grand Rapids, proudly attending St. Mary’s Catholic School and West Catholic High School (‘72). After graduation, Larry answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, serving four years aboard aircraft carriers traveling the Mediterranean.

On November 17, 1979, Larry married the love of his life, Ginny (Kloska). Their marriage would carry them through 46 years of life together raising their children, Amy Stoffer Ziemer, Sarah (Clayton)Toepfer, Daniel (Julie) Stoffer, and Valerie (Alex) Wieten. Larry and Ginny built a family and a life grounded in faith, unwavering love, strength, and perseverance. Larry had a gift for connecting with people… a big laugh, humor and humility, and the ability to chat with anyone. He was known for going above and beyond to help friends, neighbors, family members, and strangers; no questions asked and without asking anything in return. He spent years selling insurance before his entrepreneurial spirit and growing family called him to begin his own business, Pipeline Maintenance Services. Day in and out, blood sweat and tears, Larry was always a servant leader; never asking anyone to do something he hadn’t done 1000 times himself. This was particularly evident in his many years of coaching basketball, and understanding it was more about the lessons learned along the way rather than the win or loss. Larry was an avid reader and also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, the best variety of music, spending time in his garage, life on the lake, and caring for his lawn.

Above all else, Larry was a devoted family man. His proudest accomplishment was the family he loved and the life he worked so hard to provide for. His grandchildren—Teddy, Erin, Abe, Jane, Emma, Vivian, Miles, Jack, William, and Tate brought him endless joy and pride. After Larry became a grandpa, he could often be found on the floor reading, playing, and smiling at the little eyes looking back at him. His greatest legacy is the love he gave and the family he leaves behind.

Throughout the last year and a half of Larry’s life, his beloved wife, Ginny, was by his side with unwavering love, devotion, and care. Her steadfast commitment to caring for Larry and allowing him to remain and heal at home was truly a beautiful gift from the Holy Spirit. Their faith, strength, and love helped carry Larry through even the hardest days, giving him courage, hope, and the reassurance that he was never alone.

He is also survived by his brothers Tom, Mark, Fr. Patrick OFM, and sister Kelly, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Larry will be held on Thursday August 20, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Friday August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service.
