

Leonard Grinwis, 87, passed away at his home Wednesday evening February 10th. He was born May 23rd, 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI and was the son of the late Martin and Gerdina (Oom) Grinwis. Leonard was co-owner and operator of Grinwis Cartage. He was an All City Football player at Creston High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a Sergeant in the Philippians. He was an avid golfer and a fixture at Grand Rapids Golf Club for many years. He was a longtime member of Bethel Reformed Church. Leonard was a supporter and loyal fan of Michigan State University. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Shirley E. (Boyd) Grinwis; two sons Leonard Boyd (Linda) Grinwis of Naples, FL. Robert Alan (Alison) Grinwis of Kennett Square ,PA. Three grandchildren, Lori Grinwis and Hannah Grinwis and Erika Newkirk; one sister Bernice Murray; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Martin. Funeral Services will be Monday February 15th at 11:00 am at Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Avenue and Three Mile Road. Burial will be in Fairplains Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday February 14th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
