Louis R. Hillary Jr.

Louis R. Hillary Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully to sing with his heavenly Father and angels in a pain free world on Thursday, October 20, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Hillary and mother-in-law Francis Budnick. Louis will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine and their children Kurt (Cynthia) Hillary, Tammy Hillary, Lisa (Matt) DeLano; grandchildren Cullen (Kristyn), Erin, Bryanna, Cassidy, Jacob, Tyler, Maddie, Charlie, Joey, Billy, Abby and Charlie; great-grandchildren Jessiah and Logan. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings Joanne Dunn, Gerry (Tom) Quinn, Don (Carol) Hillary, Dick (Katie) Hillary, Fred (Linda) Hillary, Larry (Arlene) Hillary, Rody (Jeannie) Hillary, Kelly (DiDi) Hillary, Marybeth (Den) Ketelaar; father-in-law Frank Budnick, sisters and brothers-in-law Diane (Ron) Biao, Donna (Dick) Zerfas, Ed (Joan) Budnick, Suzi (Mike) Mulder as well as many nieces, nephews and the many other children that knew him as Papa. Louis was an avid singer, who loved to sing “Danny Boy”. He had many passions in life, such as traveling with Elaine, golfing and swimming. Louis was known for his love of old John Wayne westerns, his diet coke and hot fudge sundaes, as well as watching WWF with his children. Most of all he will be remembered for being a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Please join the family for a time of gathering at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 5-8pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish (224 Carrier St. Ne, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11am, with Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. An additional hour of visitation will be held at the church prior to the Mass beginning at 10am.
