

Mary Clare Arndt, age 98, of Grand Rapids, passed away, on March 7, 2017. She was born in the Spring of 1918 in Grand Rapids to the late John and Frances McCullough. Mary is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Francis Stoddard, who passed away in 1975 and her 2nd husband, Jack Arndt. Also preceding are her brothers, Francis and Bernard McCullough. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Stephen (Donna) Stoddard and William (Andrea) Stoddard; daughter, Constance (Gordon) Ensing; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was dedicated to a life of giving and helping people. After graduating from the Mercy School of Nursing, she worked at Butterworth Hospital and St. John’s Home. She faithfully worked as a RN until the age of 78. Due to the dedication of her career, she was honored by having a home at St. John’s home named after her. The McCullough house sits as faithful reminder of her service to others. Mary was a gifted painter and spent many hours crafting her works of art for family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2275 Diamond NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. A time of visitation will be from 10-11 am immediately prior to Mass at the church.
