Michael James Hillary

Michael J Hillary went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2025 at the age of 88. He is survived by his son Nathan (Krista) and two grandchildren Cade and Camden Hillary, and his daughter Amanda Hillary (Jesse), as well as step-daughter Katie (Andy) French.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Vi Hillary and two brothers Bob and Dave. His brother Bill (Joyce) is living in Texas.

Michael was ordained, a Redemptorist priest in 1963. After approximately 20 years of devotion to his Catholic Church and parishioners, he chose to leave the priesthood in 1982. He married and with his then wife adopted two children who have continued to give him great love and meaning in his life. His last appointment as a priest was at Saint Alphonsus church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as Pastor. Michael made a great difference in the lives of countless people.

He was a caring, compassionate, understanding and generous man. Michael was employed at Steelcase for several years, and after retiring he devoted much of his time working and helping out at Saint Alphonsus both in church and at the food pantry. He was also an avid golfer, and played into his 80s. Over many years he often talked about his desire to go to heaven. You are there now Michael! Rest in heavenly peace.
