On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, Michelle Marie Anderson, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at the age of 64. Michelle was born in Grand Rapids, MI on December 30, 1954 to Merlin and Hermina Watson. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dan Anderson, son Brett Anderson, daughter Stephanie (Nick) Hendon, and granddaughter, Hayley Hendon.

Michelle graduated from Ottawa Hills High School, and went on to Grand Rapids Junior College to study graphic arts. She worked as a Graphic Artist, a homemaker, and most recently, the co-owner of vintage home decor and custom framing shop, River City Home. Buying and selling vintage goods was a passion of hers. Michelle loved spending time with her family, hosting and decorating for holiday gatherings, and showcasing her creative gifts by helping others with home decor, and selling vintage items at various markets and at her shop.

She could always be counted on to listen, give sound advice, and make you laugh. Her wit and sense of humor, and her compassionate, talented, intelligent, and charismatic soul will be missed by many.

We will be honoring Michelle with a celebration of life open house at Reyers North Valley Chapel (2815 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 4 to 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Salvation Army of Grand Rapids.

I loved knowing Michelle was only two doors down from us when they lived on Rockhill. I envied her knack for decorating but adored her laughter and soul. I remember telling her about a problem I had in getting a sitter for my daughter Katherine. She said, ‘I’ll do it!’ No hesitation! She stayed with Katherine for an hour every other day and then drive her to school. What a blessing! She loved kids, loved people of all ages, and just loved life. I will miss her.

Michelle was a beautiful soul. She was creative, brilliant, witty, funny, artistic...but really my favorite thing about her was her sardonic and dry sense of humor. I'm not sure many people knew just how funny she was. She loved music, crafts, the arts. My heart goes out to the family who will be missing a bright spark, a bright light in their little circle.
