Nancy Tuori Weller, aged 84, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Thursday April 28, 2022. She is survived by her children, Tim (Kirsten), Trina (Tallis), and Steve (Kristina); seven grandchildren; brothers, Tom and Charles (Marilyn); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Darrel Weller.
Nancy graduated from Muskegon High School and Michigan State University with a BA and MA in business education. She taught at Union High School (where she met Darrel) and in the business department at Grand Rapids Community College. Her family was her primary passion – always being there when her kids got home from school, traveling the world to spend time with her adult children who had moved to bigger cities, and retiring the day her first grandchild arrived. She was a formidable game player, regularly beating her grandchildren at Boggle or Scrabble. She relished playing bridge both competitively and recreationally with her longtime bridge group.
She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for sixty years and a founding board member of the Bethlehem Intergenerational Center (BIC). The BIC is an innovative program that fosters meaningful interaction during the day between children in the childcare program and elderly in the care and enrichment program.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 250 Commerce Ave SW. Visitation will be at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE on Friday, May 6 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm.
For those who wish, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Intergenerational Center.
