Patricia Meko

Patricia May Meko, 86 of Rockford passed away on June 8, 2020. Born on January 10, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Walter and Mae Lewandowski. Survived by her sons Joseph (Jennifer) Meko and Matthew (Eric) Meko. Grandchildren Brian, Kari and Alyssa Meko. Also survived by sister-in-law Dolores (Emile) Burke and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Mae and sister Dolly Lewandowski; husband of 59 years Joseph Adam Meko. After graduating Catholic Central High School class of ’52, Pat worked for the City of Grand Rapids Highway Department. She took pride in keeping up with the men in the office while helping her soon-to-be husband Joe get through Aquinas College. Leaving her job to raise sons Joseph and Matthew, Pat was involved in their school activities from room mother, chaperone, band and athletic supporter, to St. Jude Church archivist, meal and flower delivery driver, and church directory organizer. When she wasn’t tending to her home and gardens, Pat enjoyed many years as a Grand Rapids Public Museum docent. Personal interests included hosting parties, going to the beach, and traveling with her husband and boys to visit friends and relatives. Her legacy is her kind, supportive service work that helped to raise her family and contributed to her community. Thank you, Pat! We love you now and forever. You lived a good life. A Visitation for Pat will be Saturday, June 20, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 11240 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 starting at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude, Ship of Hope.
