Patricia Mary Steinport

Patricia (Pat) Mary (Kurant) Steinport, 78, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on March 7th, 2026 in Grand Rapids, MI. Pat was born September 15th, 1947, to Frances Albina (Jesinskas) Kurant and Victor Ferdinand Kurant in Grand Rapids, where she lived her entire life. Growing up, she enjoyed playing with her cousins and close friends, and spending time with her mom, Frances, especially after her father, Victor, unexpectedly passed away when Pat was 16 years old. Pat loved her dime store pet turtles and she developed a deep love for animals as a child. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1965 and she went on to attend Central Michigan University and Grand Valley State University. Pat met the love of her life, Ricky Lee Steinport, the summer of 1969. Pat and Rick had four children – Shelly (passed away when only two weeks old), Paul, Kim, and Jeff. Pat and Rick traveled the world to visit their kids over the years, to include Argentina, Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, Italy, England, and Scotland. Pat was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren – Dominic, Nick, Ava, Christian, Alex, and Sam.

Pat loved Elvis, reading anything about the JFK assassination, watching murder mysteries, talking to and spending time with her many wonderful friends, volunteering with the Experience Grand Rapids, spending time with her kids and grandkids, tending to her garden, feeding and watching the menagerie of critters and birds in her backyard, going to Grand Haven, cataloguing family memories, investigating her ancestry, reading, giving lots of love to her cats (Clyde, Cricket, Meatball, Shades, Monique, Simon, Benny, Ozzie, Bosco, Paddy Wack, and Sunny), and laughing with Rick. Pat will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday March 11, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm with the rosary beginning at 7pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel. A service to celebrate Pat’s life is scheduled for March 12, 2026 at 11am at St. Jude Catholic Church on Four Mile Rd in Grand Rapids. Visitation will begin one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Corewell Health Hospice on her behalf.
