Ray was a graduate of Cody High School in Detroit, went on to study at Lawrence Technical School and then became a master electrician. He worked for many years in the railroad industry and then owned his own business as an electrician. He proudly served his country in the United States Air National Guard and the Army National Guard. He was a parishioner of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids for over 25 years. Ray was a family man and adored his grandchildren. He loved to take them trick or treating on Halloween. In his younger years he loved to travel with his family. Taking family trips to Disney World every year when his children were little, and as they grew those trips became yearly family cruises to the Caribbean. Ray was a jokester and always knew how to put a smile on your face. In his free time he loved watching Tigers baseball and going to the casino. Ray will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ray was preceded in death by: wife of nearly 40 years, Sharon Lou Kuhn; parents, Harold and Phyllis Kuhn; and brother, Robert Kuhn.
Ray is survived by: children, Alanna (Rich) Klomp, and Angela Kuhn; grandchildren, Izzy Klomp, Nathan Klomp, and Emily Orel; brothers, Richard (Lee) Kuhn, and Harold Kuhn; and sister, Rosalie (Robert) Knoll.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2024 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3215 4 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. The family will welcome guests, for a time on visitation, starting at 9:30 am until the time of service. Ray will be interred at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Hospice or Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan.
