Richard “Dick” Lee Kitchen, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2017. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1930 to the late Wilton and Francis Orletta Kitchen. Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Myrle Elaine [Ovens] and a brother Robert. Dick is survived by his two sons Malcolm (Carolyn) and Don (Stephanie) Kitchen; granddaughter Alexandra Kitchen as well as by two brothers, Jim (Pat) and Bill (Jane). He was a 1948 graduate of Central High School, and attended Grand Rapids Junior College and served his country as a U.S. Marine Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Ambucs, Malta Masonic Lodge, Saladin Shrine Chanters & Motor Patrol, Scottish Rite, Golden Kiwanis and a volunteer for 17 years at Score Chapter 642. He was also a Boy Scout leader. Dick loved spending time with his family. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather.
