Richard Lee Thiemkey age 82 of Grand Rapids went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was born in the summer of 1933 in Attica, MI to the late Stewart and Edith Mae Thiemkey. Richard is preceded in death by his sister Janice Perry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Claudette Faith [Culp]. Also surviving are his four children, April (Steve) Schaub of Eaton Rapids, MI, Yvonne (Ralph) Jackson of Springfield, MO, Jean Rogers of Grand Rapids, MI, and Richard (Jodi) Thiemkey of Hudsonville, MI, as well as 6 Grandchildren. Also surviving are Richard’s three siblings Larry (Nancy) Thiemkey of Brown City, MI, Judy (Layton) Mathews of Lapeer, MI, and Dr. William (Bobbie) Thiemkey, Black Mountain, NC. Richard had been an active member at North Park Presbyterian Church for many years. Prior to his retirement Richard was a dedicated employee of Kelvanator, Reynolds Aluminum, Porter Hills Retirement Community and Ambrose Ridge Apartments. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening, everything from roses to vegetables and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans. But most importantly Richard will be remembered as a loving family man, husband, father, grandfather and brother. Please join Richard's family for visitation Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10-12 pm at North Park Presbyterian Church (500 N Park St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525) with the funeral service immediately following at 12 noon with Rev.
