Robert Conrad Eggleston Sr.

Robert Conrad Eggleston, Sr., age 95 passed away on July 29, 2024 at his home. Bob was born in Grand Rapids on June 24, 1929 to Harold & Ellen (Hopson) Eggleston. He attended Central High School where he played baseball. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the National Guard.

On January 13, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Donna Clark. Their love affair include raising three children, making countless memories and span 70 years before Donna preceded Bob in death in 2021.

Bob was a printer by trade. He spent his career working for Michigan National Bank and eventually Meijer where he retired. When he wasn’t working, Bob was probably playing baseball. His passion for the game started as a young boy and lasted his entire life. He spent many years playing on the St. Isadore’s men’s league. He was an avid Tiger’s fan, but would watch any game that was on television.

The dedicated husband, loving father and caring grandpa will be remembered by everyone for his sense of humor. He had an amazing laugh, and always had a joke to tell. He infectious spirit was always positive and he made everyone around him feel welcome and at ease. His sly laugh, witty sense of humor and devotion to his family will be missed.

He is survived by his children: Robert “Bud” (Sharon) Eggleston, Jr., Diane Ensley and Janice (Randy) Riemersma; his grandchildren: Amy (Doug) Elliott, Nikki (Mike) Witt, Joshua Holman, Phillip Holman, Nate (Lindsay) Holman, Justin Holman, Richard (Troy Lazenby) Paas, Tim (Brittany) Paas, Lisa (Sean) Crowfoot, Mark (Jess) Riemersma and Amanda Christmon; 23 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Besides his wife, Donna, Bob was preceded in death by his grandson Benjamin Holman, his son-in-law Jack Ensley and his brothers: Norm, Dick and Jerry Eggleston.

Bob’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Joshua Holman for providing such compassionate care to Grandpa.

The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.
