I grew up with Bob offering to "teach" Brendan and I lessons on what ever game we were playing at the time on his kitchen table,. I can still hear his voice calling out offering those lessons to us.
You will be missed

Bob was like a father to me. A very good man that I will always remember. I always enjoyed seeing you playing with your nephews as well as you fumy jokes. Bob is giver and a truly generous man by all means. He called me and told me "Omar I will give my truck to Branden so that you can use it." In his hard time he would still think about others. We all lost a man that hardly can be found these days. I promise you Bob that I will always tell Ryan about you. I will make sure he knows you and remembers you.

I met Bob 4 years ago when I emailed him and asked if I could use one of his pictures on a website I was developing for selling car parts. He ended up sending me 25 original pictures to use as I wish.  In appreciation of his generosity I designed his website (www.dogpictureguy.com) and there began a unique friendship. Where he found all those hilarious joke-emails (fortunately we were of the same political persuasion) remains a mystery, but I enjoyed every one of them.  His website contains most of his recent dog portraits and will remain on the internet for as long as I own a server .  Thank you Bob, for your inspiration, your generosity, your laughter and your friendship.

1956’  Bob had a love for auto body work and customizing. He liked the work done at West Side Auto Body on Leonard hill.  The owner was Johnny Von Kitten and he did great body work.  You could get a 49’ Ford trunk leaded in for $15.00 which we did.  I regularly played ukulele where ever we went, and Bob eventually wrote a song about Johnny. We set the words to a current a melody of the day and would sit on the curb of Fulton Street at the pop corn stand or at the Patio singing;

When he reached a Michigan,
He started velding cars again.

Other verses were added as we visited his shop from time to time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Horgan family. Bob and I grew up next door to each other on Deloney. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Rog,Ann (Hemmes) Doane

This fall, Bob and I had a long talk outside. He told me what a lucky guy he has been to live such an amazing life..."Barb, my two boys and I have two amazing grandsons". He told us he wanted to live until the tulips came up. When I saw the tulips coming up, I knew it was his time. He was not only our neighbor, but a grandfather to our kids. He has already been missed by our family and he will forever be in our hearts. After telling Owen about his passing, Owen told me that "its ok because Bob is in the best place in the whole wide world". I trust that, and I also know that Bob will always be watching over Owen & Clare. We are here for anything your family may need, now and in the future. We are so lucky to have had him in our lives.

I never had the privilege to meet Bob; he and I were "Internet Buddies" for almost a year.  We exchanged, in the later months, many Christian words and I knew him as a man of renewed faith.  His faith kept him strong throughout this ordeal, and I pray that our Heavenly Father will console the loving family about which he wrote so much.  To his family, I say "Peace be with you" (Luke 24:36).  To Bob I say "It was a pleasure, my friend.  Wait for me, Irish.  I'll join you soon enough."

To the Horgan Family: The bright spot in my husband Joe's day was that Bob always stopped in the doorway of his office with a cup of coffee and a joke. It has been missed very much by him. Bob made a map of Irish surnames and framed it and it is now and always has been a precious possession of mine. I was fortunate to have met him, and I too will miss him. His memory puts a smile in my heart.

MY SYMPATHY TO ALL OF BOBS FAMILY AND FRIENDS...HE GRADUATED FROM UNION HIGH SCHOOL IN 1959 WITH US...HE WAS A VERY CAREING AND QUIET PERSON...NONE OF US KNEW HE WAS AN ARTIST.....HE NEVER SHOWED US THAT OUTGOING PERSON THAT WAS IN THERE!!!

We were deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing.  He was a wonderful, cheerful and funny man.  He would come out to Grand Isle Marina on a regular basis to take photos of our boats and everyone's dogs.  What a great person.  We always looked forward to his visits and always had a cold Pepsi waiting for him.  We will cherish his photos forever.  We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his family.  We will miss his happy smile and sense of humor.

To the Horgan Family: As a young Art Director in Grand Rapids, Bob became a valued part of most of the organizations I worked for providing illustration services. He was gentle, quietly strong and a great guy to hang around and trade stories.

To The Horgan Family: I only knew Bob for a short time, but came to have a deep respect for his passion for life, his love of art and his terrific sense of humor.  

I pray that the Good Lord give you mercy and comfort during your time of grief.

My prayers are with You and your family.  Bob will be deeply missed.

Barb and boys, please accept my deep condolences at the loss of your husband and father. I’ve never known anyone that had the interest in life and especially in people that Bob did. It has been my privilege to consider him my friend for the past 10 years. May he rest in eternal peace.
