

Robert W Imhoff, age 87 of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on July 31, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 16,1939. He graduated from Creston High School in 1956. He spent 3 years in the US Army in France. He married Beverly on August 29, 1987.
Bob was a firefighter for the City of Grand Rapids for 33 years, retiring as the Captain of Apparatus in 2000. He was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 1998. He became the unofficial Fire Department historian, gathering detailed information about its history for over 35 years.
Bob loved Jesus.
He also loved spending time with his wife, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying them to the utmost. His wife Beverly says it would be hard to imagine a man as kind or as patient as Bob. His son, Sean spent the last five weeks with his dad, taking him to doctor appointments and making sure he received good care.
Bob enjoyed golf, funny movies, jokes, history, sports, and reading about WWII. He listened to music from the 50s, Traditional hymns, Contemporary Christian, and classical music.
For the last three years, Bob and his son, Pat have worked every Monday restoring a piece of Grand Rapids history for the Grand Rapids Public Museum: a 1937 American LaFrance wooden ladder truck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Virginia Imhoff; siblings, Richard Imhoff, Barb Swan, and Beth Ann Imhoff; son, Daniel Imhoff; grandson, Ethan Imhoff; and great-grandson, Owen Fiske.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Beverly of Grand Rapids, MI; sons, Patrick “Pat” Imhoff of Cedar Springs, MI and Sean Imhoff (Jennifer) of Cleveland, OH; step-son, Mark Weidman of Helena, MT; 11 grandchildren, Max Imhoff (Sara), Amber Gauthier (Alex), Ariana Scheidel (Jessie), Elise Imhoff, Jacob Imhoff (Liz), Alison Imhoff, Taylor Imhoff, Cory Weidman (Chelsea), Jordan Stevik (Andy), Micah Fiske (Dave), Logan Moreno (George); seven great-grandchildren, Jack Gauthier, James Stevik, Emerson Fiske, Jaxon Stevik, Myles Moreno, Canaan Weidman, and Archer Fiske; others who called him Grandpa, Kent Weinroth, Claire Weinroth, Genevieve Fynewever, and Beau Fynewever.
Visitation will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave N.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505, on August 22, 2026, at 10:30 am followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 am. A Reception will follow at Casino Club of Grand Rapids 3260 Salerno Dr NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
Bob will be interred in Ft Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.
