

Robert Edward Launiere aged 84 of Grand Rapids, MI passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday August 4, 2014. Bob’s battle with many cancers throughout the years finally ended while being wonderfully cared for by the staff of Metron of Cedar Springs. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sally Launiere and their son Steve Launiere, his mother Catherine (Kate) and her husband Herman Wagner, father Edward Launiere, sister Margaret (Peg) and her husband Roger Mallette. He is survived by his loving wife Jo (Josephine) Glonek-Launiere, his brother Richard (Donna) Launiere, his children Scott (Beverly) Launiere, John Launiere, Timothy (Gloria) Launiere, Julie Launiere, Amy Launiere and Beth Launiere, grandchildren Zackary Launiere, Tony Launiere, Nicki (Kurt) Bode, James Launiere, Jason (Tedimarie Sanchez) Launiere, Jacque (Ryan) DeKorver, Cari (Levi Ealding) Launiere, Ryan DeGraaf, Andrew Wells, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as the children and extended family of Jo Glonek-Launiere whom Bob loved dearly. Robert was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. He founded Preferred Tool & Die on June 6, 1966 and was a successful business owner for many years. He acquired his private pilot’s license, loved playing the piano, fishing, hunting, traveling, boating, golfing and bowling. He was a long standing member of the American Legion, Casino Club and Grand Rapids Elks. He enjoyed making others laugh as there was never a joke he couldn’t recall. His jokes continued right up to the end when his wife Jo asked him “how do you feel?” and he responded “with my hands”. Robert was also a long time member of St. Jude Parish and is now resting with his savior Jesus Christ and all who went before him. He will be dearly missed.
