Robert James Schaaf

Robert James Schaaf, of Spring Lake, MI and Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane for over 65 years, the loving father of the late Eric Schaaf, the late Brian Schaaf, Karen Momber, Bernadette Schaaf, Katherine (Bill) Palisano and Karl Schaaf.

Robert is survived by 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Robert was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He spent many years as an independent builder and built many different homes throughout the Grand Rapids area, all while working full time as a firefighter and equipment operator in Grand Rapids.

Robert was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Spring Lake.

He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Monday, June 22nd at Reyers North Valley Chapel, on 3 Mile and Fuller, with a Rosary Service at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 23rd at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Rd NE, friends and family may arrive an hour before. Due to COVID-19, the family apologizes that there will not be a luncheon following the Funeral Mass.
