Born in Grand Rapids on November 8, 1945, to Chester John Danielski and Rose Teresa Danielski (née Koszarski), he lived a life full of family, friends, and many hours on the golf course—from his childhood job as a caddie at Cascade Hills Country Club to almost 20 years of league play at Scott Lake Golf Course.
Roger served in the U.S. Navy in his early 20s. As he often related, he came home from the enlistment office to find his draft notice on the kitchen table. He served by “protecting Puerto Rico from the Cubans,” which consisted largely of playing golf with the base commander.
A graduate of Grand Valley College, Roger wore many hats across his professional career: antique merchant, real estate agent, electronics repair store proprietor, and mortgage loan officer, most recently with LMCU, from which he retired in 2015.
He is survived by his wife Jean (O'Connell); son Jeff (Jill) and their children Alexander and Benjamin; daughters Sarah (Matt) and their children Miles and Elliott, and Elizabeth (Marcus) Hoeksema and their children Isabella and Lucy; sister Marcia (Pat) Hillary and brother Bernie (Louise); sister-in-law Dianne O'Connell; brother-in-law and his wife Dennis and Pam O'Connell; sister-in-law and her husband Janet and Mike Baremore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Tom and Ray.
A special thanks to Bernie for being a supportive, helpful, and loving brother; and his friends Bob Burchfield, Terry Wickering, Larry Vega and Ryan Kauffman for keeping in touch, calling, and taking him to lunch during this past difficult year.
A memorial service will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 2 - 4 pm on Saturday, July 22, followed immediately by a celebration of life at Diamond Avenue Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Stepping Stones Montessori School.
