Sandy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 26, 1941. She was a proud graduate of Catholic Central High School. She then attended Aquinas College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. On April 4, 1964, she married the love of her life, Frederick “Fritz” Weidenfeller, beginning a beautiful life together centered around family, faith, and love. To the world, she was Sandra, and to her family, she was Sandy. To her kids, she was Mom, and to her children, there will never be another love quite like the love of their mother.
Sandy’s greatest accomplishments were not found in titles or achievements, but in the love she gave as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the heart of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with those she loved.
Sandy had a generous heart and a strong desire to help others. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, the library and at the hospital, always finding meaningful ways to give her time and care to others. She was passionate about dog sitting and loved the companionship of the animals in her life. Her many hobbies included reading, knitting, sewing, quilting, exercising, and playing Bingo.
Sandy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Frederick “Fritz” Weidenfeller, after 36 years of marriage; her Heavenly grandchild; her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; and her sister, Susanne.
She leaves behind her children, Frederick “Fritz” (Mary), Virginia, and Mary (Bob) Kasprzak; her grandson, Brian (Zora); and her two beloved great-granddaughters, Sanja and Sofija. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marlene Fabbro, her grand kitty, Vinnie, and grand puppy, Bennington, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sandy’s life was a gift to those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, her caring heart, her faith, and the many ways she brought comfort and joy to others.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with Fritz, the love of her life.
Until we meet again, Mom. You will always be loved, always be missed, and forever be in our hearts.
