Shirley A. (Gooch) Myers, age 89 of Clark Retirement Community passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 31, 2025. She was born in Beaumont, Texas to Velera and Everett Gooch on January 22, 1936. Predeceased by husband Merlyn "Mert" Myers in 2007 and sister Dorothy Jean "DJ" Virgil. Surviving are her son Bruce Myers and daughter Linda Myers of Grand Rapids; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Ron Johnson of Albuquerque; sister-in-law Shirley E. Myers of Colorado; nieces and nephews. Shirley was an X-ray technician. She was a world traveler, seamstress, quilter and fabric artist; singer, flautist, handbell ringer, gardener and scout leader.
The family will greet friends on Friday September 19, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller NE, Grand Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday September 20, 2025 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4301 Ambrose NE, Grand Rapids.
