

Theodore Charles Baker, age 88, passed from this world and on to the next on Monday, April 15, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Annamae (Ann) Baker whom he married on Jan 31, 1953. Ted was born on Jan 26, 1925. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and supplied the troops in Normandy, France during WWII. Ted loved to hunt, fish, and bowl in his younger years and won several bowling trophies. He never missed an opportunity to plant a vegetable garden whether it was a 5 acre plot on his farm in Marne or a 3' X 20' garden at his Cedar Springs retirement home. Ted has 4 children who love him dearly and whom he taught to live courageously, honestly, and with integrity. Roy (BoaKame) Baker, Bruce (Betsy) Baker, Carla (Rich) Schoenborn and Paula Baker (Ron Stanley); several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews will all greatly miss him. He also is survived by siblings Ruth Nederveld, Vi Minderhout, Ray (Arlene) Schut and brother-in-law Tom (Gail) Maxwell He was preceded by his father Harry D. Baker, mother Hattie “Ploeg” Baker, sister Evelyn Mulder and mother-in-law Julia Vallerugo. The family will be greeting friends on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel; 2815 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505. The service to celebrate Ted’s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Reyers North Valley Chapel, directly following a visitation from 1-2 pm. Condolences, flowers or donations to the Wounded Warriors Project or the Friends of the Michigan’s Veterans Home may be made in his honor.
