

Born March 2nd 1972 in Seoul, South Korea, Timothy John Coleman, born as Kim Jang Shik, was adopted into the family of Judith and Larry Coleman of Pennsylvania in July of 1976. Timothy died on the morning of March 23rd, 2017 in Grand Rapids Michigan. He grew up in Milton, PA and graduated from Selinsgrove High School. He traveled with his family frequently to the Coleman Nebraska homestead as well as many vacations around the country. He mastered the piano in his younger years, which he continued to play in his leisure time as an adult. A roofer by trade Tim traveled the region for work and even went as far as Louisiana to work alongside his older brother Matthew Coleman. In the last few years he began focusing on his Korean heritage, learning the language and searching for his birth family, whom he will never meet. Last year he began attending Grand Rapids Community College to study social work. He met his wife of 7 years, Jessica Nevius Coleman, in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1996. They married in Grand Rapids, MI in 1998 and lost their first child, Brianna, after birth a year later. They raised 3 children, Destiny (16), Jordan (15) and Austin (10) along with 3 other children from their extended family Tana, Davy, and Nikie who they welcomed into their home. He served alongside his children at God’s Kitchen and is known by his friends and family for his generosity and hospitality. Tim will be remembered by those around him as a compassionate father, a hard worker, and a man that defined family by love and not by blood. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brianna Coleman, mother Judith (DeStefano) Coleman, and his grandparents. He is survived by his children Destiny, Jordan and Austin Coleman of Grand Rapids, MI, wife of 7 years Jessica Nevius Coleman of Grand Rapids, MI, father Larry Coleman of Harrisburg, PA, brothers Matthew Coleman of Wall Twp., NJ, Joel Coleman of York, PA/Nickerson, NE (Nicole Delpriore Coleman), and Stephen Coleman of Butler, PA (Jessica Tack Coleman) and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Timothy Wright, will be held at 11am at Northlawn United Methodist Church (1157 Northlawn St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) on Wednesday March, 29, 2017. Visitation will be at Reyers North Valley Chapel Tuesday March 28, 2017 from 5-8pm and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
