William (Bill) Michael Doyle passed into the loving arms of Our Lord on November 27, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years , Judy (Fudold). He is also survived by his 3 loving children and their spouses, Bill (Maria) Doyle, Kathleen (Kurt) Haapala and Bryan (Ericka) Doyle. Bill is fondly remembered as “Grumpa” by his 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Ana, Lauren, Connor, William, Ella and Caleb. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Cnossen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Edith and Joseph Doyle, his brothers Fr. Joseph Doyle and Richard Doyle, his sister-in-law Peggy Doyle and brother-in-law Dale Cnossen.
Bill was very proud of his Irish heritage and cherished his travels to the Old Sod where he was able to locate ancestry ties. Bill graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1957 and was very instrumental in planning their 65th reunion on July 27, 2022. It was a “labor of love”.
After graduating high school Bill joined the Navy serving in Japan as a Communications Technician. Returning to Grand Rapids he used those skills and worked for Reid Service, and then helped start Reid Communications. Finally, he started his own company, Telesound. Some of his projects included nurse call systems at both Blodgett and Butterworth Hospitals and providing the sound systems for the initial years of the Downtown Grand Rapids Festivals.
As a young boy he began his service of stewardship at St. Jude’s Catholic Church by cutting the grass for Monsignor Brophy. He went on in later years serving on the St. Jude Parish Council, Buildings and Grounds, Finance Council and many expansion projects. Most importantly, he was blessed to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. Bill was known as “Mr. Fixit” by neighbors, friends and family as he helped them figure out a multitude of challenges.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Emmanuel Hospice for their exceptional care of Bill during his last few weeks on earth.
