William Hurt

William H. Hurt aged 85 of Grand Rapids passed away Friday, August 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gloria. William will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Gloria (Richard) Muller, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Elizabeth (Brett) Poirier, Ethan Poirier, Anneliese Poirier, Karl (Laura) Muller, Aiden Castagno, Nick Castagno, Marlea Muller, sister Jean Richardson and many nieces and nephews. William was a Marine in WWII and was a China Marine and survivor of Iwo Jima. In his professional life he was a New York City Firefighter. The family would like to thank the staff at Sentinel Point for their loving care to both of their parents and especially towards their father during these past few months. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday August 20, 2011 at Sentinel Point 2900 Thornhills Drive SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would ask for donations to American Legion Post 451 Cascade 3390 Thornapple River Drive SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
