

Bill Wyly, age 92 of Belton, MO passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm Saturday, September 12, 2026 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, Grandview City, MO. Private Family only Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
Please remember dad by wearing any blue comfortable clothing. (suits and dresses are not required)
Bill was born in Overland Park Kansas on April 6, 1934. He was a lifelong Missouri resident. He married Dorothy Ellen Cooper on June 18, 1955 at the Westport Presbyterian Church. They had three children together, Diane, Richard and Pamela. Bill and Dorothy resided in Kansas City and then in Peculiar MO, until Dorothy’s passing on April 17, 2018. Bill was married to Bonnie L. Hanchett on August 9, 2019 and resided in Belton MO, until her passing.
Bill grew up in North Kansas City and Gashland Missouri. During his high school years, he was active in the chorus and A Capella choir.
Bill worked at a wholesale dry goods store in Kansas City and then for Standard Oil for a short time, then moved onto studying and graduating from the Moler Barber College in Kansas City in 1961. This began a long career as a barber, well into his 80’s, barbering at the Plaza, Red Bridge Barber shop (30 years) and the Belton Plaza Barber shop (20 years) until his retirement.
Bill and Dorothy first met at the Westport Presbyterian Church at a young singles class. Bill and Dorothy were active members of the Faith Baptist Church in Raymore MO, with Bill singing in the Church choir.
Bill and Dorothy loved to bowl in their younger years, receiving multiple bowling awards. In their senior years, they became members of the Rainbow Squares, the Huff ‘N’ Puffs and the Jacks N’ Queens square dancing clubs. Additionally, Bill was a member of the Salvation Army.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Virginia Wyly, his wives Dorothy and Bonnie, and his brother Robert. He is survived by his son Richard (Linda); daughters Diane McEwen and Pamela Carroll (Jim); brother Lyle (Sandy); 8 grandchildren and 15 great children.
