Carl Henry Richards Jr.

Carl Henry Richards Jr. 83, of Grandview, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Carl was born December 7, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Carl H. Richards Sr. and Margaret Pauline Whisler He was an air force veteran serving from 1950 to 1953. Carl was a lifelong area resident retiring from AT&T as a radio relay technician. Carl enjoyed playing bridge with his wife and was a member of ACBL for forty years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a good teacher. Surviving family includes his wife of sixty years, Sofia C. Richards, of the home. Sons include Carl H, Richards III of North Kansas City, Mo. and Earl L. Richards of Grandview, Mo. Daughters include Lisa M. Brisbin of Bates City, Mo. and Gail Riebeling of Columbia, Ill. A sister,Pauline Culton of West Plains, Mo., eleven grandchildren and 13 great grandchild. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 at McGilley & George Funeral Home in Grandview from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm with the rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Friday, February 15, 2013 at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church in Grandview at 10:30 am. Inurnment will be 2:00 pm at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Rd. Kansas City, Mo. 64145.
