Was saddened to hear of the passing of Coach Croy. He was one fine gentleman, teacher, mentor and friend. And oh the fun memories and great stories of the many ski trips with him, my dad (Ken Angell), and Jack Mahaffie; we'll laugh about and relive those for years to come. This world...and the lives of so many of his students and friends...was a better place for having had him in it. Go rest high on that mountain, Coach.

As one of Wally's fellow teachers, I had great respect for him as a coach and a person. Not many coaches would have worked so well with my vocal music department in coordinating our concert and musical production schedules with sports events and practices. He was always willing to give and take, which made what could have been a difficult task so much more pleasant. Great guy!

I enjoyed working for Wally several years. He was always a gentleman and a fixture in Grandview High School athletics. Unfortunately I am out of town and cannot attend the service. My condolences to Joan and the rest of the family.

I graduated from Grandview in 1986. I went on two ski trips with Coach Croy. On the last day of one trip I came down with strep throat. He took care of me the whole long bus trip home. He was such a dear man. I will always remember his kindness. God bless you, Coach.

I graduated from Grandview in 1968- Coach Croy left many lasting memories with me until this day. Had him as a Coach and in wood shop. He was someone you could talk to and get encouraged but also be told the truth. Still remember his big smile and voice. RIP my friend.

This past year and especially these past few months have been very difficult for Wally and while it is sad he is no longer with us I know he is in a better place. He was a good friend to Karen and I and our three girls. We had the opportunity to learn how to ski with him on the slopes at Winter Park. He will be missed by all of his golf and snow skiing buds.

Coach Croy was one of the best mentors I had while going to Grandview High School (67). I excelled in track because of his encouragement and demand for excellence. He continued to be interested in my life even to this day. It is a sad day in knowing Coach has passed on. I am thankful, though, that I had the privilege of knowing him and his being such an instrumental part in my life.
