After surviving the hardships of war, Dan Keo came to the United States as a Cambodian refugee following the Vietnam War. Seeking hope and a better future, he and his family were welcomed and sponsored by a compassionate Presbyterian church family who helped them begin a new life in America. Grateful for the opportunity he was given, he dedicated more than 20 years working faithfully at the church, serving with humility, loyalty, and a generous heart.
A tireless worker, Dan Keo believed that no job was too difficult if it meant providing for his family. He often worked multiple jobs, including helping maintain and landscape the Country Club Plaza, contributing to the beauty of one of Kansas City’s most recognizable landmarks. Whether at the church, on the landscaping crew, or anywhere else he was needed, he approached every task with determination, pride, and an unmatched work ethic.
Above all else, his greatest purpose in life was his family. Every long day, every sacrifice, and every hour of hard work was done to ensure that his wife and children had opportunities he never had. He wanted his family to be happy, secure, and never go without. His love was not measured by words alone but by the countless acts of selflessness he showed every single day.
He is survived by his wife, Sarom Choun; his daughters, Sarut Rosanbalm and Susan Bedell; and his grandchildren, Kashton Carlile Rosanbalm, Kalliyan Corie Rosanbalm, and Kendrys Champ Rosanbalm ; Son in Law’s Joshua Corey Rosanbalm and Khalil Alijah Bedell.
He will be remembered for his strength, quiet generosity, unwavering dedication, and the incredible legacy he leaves behind. His courage to rebuild his life in a new country, his commitment to his family, and his example of perseverance will continue to inspire everyone who knew and loved him.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that his love, values, and sacrifices live on through his family. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy will continue for generations to come.
He is deeply loved, profoundly missed, and will never be forgotten.
