Donald W. Lawrence 1931 - 2018

Don passed peacefully March 10, 2018. He was born in Kansas City, MO to G. Wayne & Virginia (Boatman) Lawrence and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1949. Don joined the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 onboard the USS Polaris. He married Carolyn Ann Maddox in 1957 and celebrated their 60th anniversary in September 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Geneva Bradhurst and his lovely wife Annie. Don is survived by their three children; Michael W. and LeAnne Lawrence, Gina E. Lawrence and Sheri, Patrick K. and Elizabeth Lawrence and his beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Don enjoyed following the activities of his children and grandchildren, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Raytown South High School sports and volunteering for the Raytown Girls Softball League as coach and board member for over 16 years. One of the highlights of his life was joining fellow veterans on the September 11, 2014 Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

A Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00, Thursday March 15, 2018, at the Raymore Cemetery, intersection of East Lucy Webb Rd & South Aspen Drive, Raymore, MO 64083. An informal Gathering for Don will commence immediately following the graveside service at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Rd, Grandview, MO 64030. 816-966-0250
