Dorma was a devoted mother and lived her life as a homemaker. Her love for children resulted in her grandchildren spending weekends with her, and by the time she was in her 80s she welcomed her great grandchildren to stay and enjoy the same excitement of storytelling and fun and games that their parents and grandparents experienced.
She was known for her contributions to many foundations, including St. Jude’s, Wounded Warriors, and Salvation Army. She would visit nursing and retirement homes and include her grandchildren for entertainment.
Dorma loved animals and raised five dogs and five cats during her life. Her passion was gardening, and she spent countless hours planting various shrubs, flowers and ground covers.
She was a caregiver three times in her life - for her father (1978), her mother (1991), and her brother (2018). We will always remember her for her willingness to be there for others. We thank her for all the advice she ever gave and for being a loving and caring mother, grandmother, friend.
Dorma is survived by sons John Miller and Jim Miller; grandchildren Crystal Bloomer, Amanda Shadonix and Lauren Miller; great grandchildren Eli Bloomer, Zoey Bloomer, Andrew Shadonix and Rebecca Shadonix; and sister Erma Rosetta. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Walter James Miller; sons Kennith Miller and Craig Miller; and siblings Clyde McDermeit, Wilda Graves and Marvin Varner.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 13 at the Santa Fe Depot, 504 Market Street, Osage City, KS 66523. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at the American Cemetery in Osage City.
