I am glad to see this feature up for so long. As I sit here looking across Table Rock Lake....I am reminded of my buddy, Dougie D. (He hated that nickname at first, but grew to know we all meant it affectionately).  Enough time has passed that his loss has softened into disappointment he's gone,and smiles of the memories.  Doug loved to hunt and fish so we made more than a couple of trips to do one or the other, or both.  I got him to go to Iowa pheasant Hunting with me, he got hooked and then along came Winston, his beloved Brittany.  I remember hiking through the dark to a catfish pond, to relieve the guy of a few of his pet catfish. Lol 
    We spent many weekends riding the gravel roads in Iowa, looking for birds. We also spent a lot of time in the far southern part of the state of MO, like a full week of Turkey Hunting and trout fishing  along the Jack's Fork and Eleven Point rivers. Where we once dumped the canoe and he lost a good bit of fishing tackle. 
    We camped with the Fun House/Grandview gang on the island I can sit and look at from my deck now. I need to dig up those pics. Some of my best memories of my life are with those people. Too many are gone already. 
     But my FAVORITE memory of Doug is from a turkey hunt across the lake from where I sit as I write this. Doug loved to go after the turkeys, but admitted he wasn't very good at it. To his defense, they are one of the toughest adversaries to hunt. They have Incredible eyesight and hearing. Anyway, we had split up a few Hundred yards apart on the mountain for a few hours and after having no luck with the birds, I slowly walked back to where I had left him. As I got closer, I could hear something that I thought was growling. We were in full camouflage so I wasn't quickly able to see him. I kept creeping closer and discovered Doug, flat on his back by a big tree, asleep and snoring loud enough to scare a bear! This might have attributed to his lack of success. Lol. Dear God, I miss my buddy! 

Dougie, I think of you and miss you every single day.  We had alot of fun growing up together.  I never had time to be bored with you around. I love you big brother!  So like always, this isn't goodbye- it's see ya later!

I so enjoyed seeing Doug in the slideshow pictures.  He and Betty looked so happy together.  My deepest condolences, and God Bless You, Betty, and All of the Family.

My sincere condolences are wished for Betty and Dougs family and friends. I will miss him also.

Doug is very much a part of everyone he shared his life with and he will continue to live on in all our hearts and we will remember him and be thankful for the time that he shared a part of his life with us. 

God bless you my friend and may God bless your family and friends and all those who love you and miss you and suffer this loss in their lives.  

For certain, the days and weeks and months to come - the passing of the many “firsts” that will be had without Doug’s presence will be hard for us to bear.  

Let our tears fall; let our hearts grieve; but let us do so knowing that it is for us that we grieve and not for Doug – for he is well and free from the pains of this life.  The tears we shed and the hurt we feel is a testimony to the genuine goodness of our friend – a good man with a big heart and an even bigger personality – who will be deeply missed by all who knew him – and whose lives are forever blessed for having the honor of calling him friend.

Doug and I sat next to each other for 5 years at B-S Steel.  It was never a dull moment around Doug.  He told the best jokes and was always making us laugh.  I remember the Friday BBQ's and Pomme de Terre stories.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Betty and all Doug's family.  We lost him way too early but he's up in heaven making them laugh now.

I worked with Doug for over 6 years at B-S Steel.  I spent about 5 of them sitting in the desk next to him.  As you can imagine, it was never a dull moment with Doug.  I'll always remember Doug's funny jokes (many of which I can't repeat here) , the Friday afternoon BBQ's for the office and warehouse and his awesome sense of humor.  He also had many funny stories about his trips to Pomme de Terre Lake.  My heart and prayers go out to Betty and all of Doug's family.  We lost Doug way too early.

All my thoughts and prayers are with Doug's fiancee, family, and friends. Doug, you will be missed by all the old crew.  I always thought that there would be time for many more days of fishing together.  I remember the time we both took a vacation day in the middle of the week to go to Truman Lake.  It was 95 degrees out that day, but we just had to go!  My thoughts are with your family now.
