Frances E. Prendergast, 86, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center on September 15, 2025, at 1:28 am surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 24, 1938, in Arlington, Nebraska to her parents Ethel and Frank Peterson. She married Gary Prendergast on October 29, 1960. They welcomed two children into the world, Monica and Tim. Frances dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 62 years and their two children. Frances’ greatest joy came from spending time with her family and taking care of her animals which she loved dearly. Her passion for family and animals created a loving environment for all who came to know her. Frances’ love for animals was evident in her generosity to rescue societies.
Frances loved her music and movies. She was especially fond of Dean Martin, Brooks and Dunn and Randy Travis whom she met on several occasions.
She is survived by her daughter Monica Prendergast-Peek (Eddie Peek), and her son Timothy Prendergast (Marsha Prendergast). She is also survived by her grandsons Eddie Peek Jr (Misty Peek) and Darren Prendergast (Dakota Prendergast), as well as great grandchildren Tori Peek and Eddie Peek 3.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Prendergast and her daughter-in-law Cindy Prendergast. As well as her sisters Doretta Watson and Alice Boettcher and her parents Ethel and Frank Peterson.
Services will be held at McGilley and George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Rd., Grandview, Missouri on Saturday, September 27, at 10:00 am. There will be a private family graveside ceremony at the Peculiar Cemetery at a later date. The family asks that instead of flowers donations be made to the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue at PO Box 937, Frederick, MD 21705-0937.
