

Mike Chiarelli, 82, Kansas City, Mo., passed away April 29, 2015. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, and Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, both at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions to the Bishop Sullivan Center or Heartland Hospice or St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Mike was born March 21, 1933, to Philip and Josephine DeMarea Chiarelli. He attended St. Therese Little Flower Grade School, De La Salle Military Academy and Rockhurst College. He served two years with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His career included 35 years in the trucking industry; he spent his final working years at the Hy-Vee Bakery on State Line Road. Mike held memberships in Knights of Columbus and VFW. He served as a lay minister for the Catholic Church and cooked many spaghetti dinners for the St. Joseph's Day Table. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Jo Chiarelli. Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon; six children, Paul (Judy), Anne (Chris), Christine, David (Jennifer), Theresa (Kent), Andrew (Loretta), and 12 grandchildren, Katie (Chris), Scott, Samantha, Spencer, Jordan, Connor, Sophie, Erika, Tyler, Evan, Noah and Delaney; son-in-law, Chuck McNabney; his brother, Phillip and wife Virginia; five nieces and nephews; a host of friends, cousins and the beloved Gourmet Club. The family is grateful to Heartland Hospice nurses Amy, Stacy, Cindy and Jennifer for guiding Mike through his transition into eternal life. Dad had a kind heart, strong faith and love of family.
