James Luverne Allspach, 86, of Grandview Missouri, met his Heavenly Father August 18, 2018. James was born the first of twins (sister Jeanette) on July 31, 1932 at home outside Parkersburg, Iowa to parents George and Gertrude Trey Allspach in rural Grundy County. James was the third child of seven and only son of the Allspachs.
James graduated from Dike High School, Class of 1950. He married Elaine Foster of Waterloo, Iowa in 1960. They had two daughters. The couple was divorced in 1983. He married Norma Mitchell of Overland Park; the couple was married for two years.
James had lived in the greater Kansas City area since 1964 and in Grandview since 1998. Over the course of his long life he held various positions, at one time owning a carpet store in Shawnee Kansas, and more recently owning a cleaning business in the Overland Park area, working into his 80th year. He gave to various charities and liked reading current books from the library, keeping up the outside of his property, and walking miles on the 133rd Street Trail near his home. James had a great appreciation for humor, liked to bake (often sharing with neighbors) and spending time with his family. He was a member of Colonial Presbyterian Church on Wornall and spent time every day reading his Bible.
James is survived by his daughter Lisa Miczo; son-in-law Nathan Miczo, and grandson, Grayson Miczo; daughter Jill Allspach; sisters, Florence Oelmann, Henrietta Damiano, Jeanette Miersma and husband Robert, Wilma Winkels and husband Roger, Margaret Christensen, Mary Harken and husband Ed.
A visitation will be 10-11 am, Funeral Service11:00 am, Thursday, August 30 at McGilley & George Funeral Home 12913 Grandview Rd. Grandview, MO. Inurnment in the Belton Cemetery at 17 S. Scott Ave (corner of S. Scott Avenue and Cambridge), Belton MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in James’ honor may be made to The Salvation Army.
