June was born June Anne Green on Sept. 9, 1928 in Westmoreland City, Pennsylvania to Ora and Marie Green along with her twin Sister, Betty. She claims that she is the older twin!
June loved Jesus, her family, and many people she came in contact with. “”She never met a stranger” is how she lived her life. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, visiting with everyone, and shopping everywhere! She loved spending time with her family and church family as well.
June accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a teenager at the Transylvania Bible Camp in PA. She’s been passionate about Him ever since!
June worked at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh after High School. She was married to Norman W. Rifenburg June 21, 1952 in the garden at the family home in Westmoreland City. While Norm was in the Air Force, she was a volunteer in Ladies Administration, a Boy Scout Den Mother, PTA at school and volunteered over the years at Baptist Hospital in Kansas City. She worked some part time jobs as a Housekeeper, a cook at Benjamin Stables and in housekeeping at Richards-Gebaur AFB. She loved helping teachers in Sunday School at First Baptist of Grandview. In 2010 she came to Blue River Bible Church and made it her home church where she enjoyed everyone and loved giving to Missions!
June enjoyed being Mom to her 3 children, Grandma to 8, and Great Grandma to 18. She made life fun! She made sure we were in church right after moving to a new place! God, family and her Church family were very important to her! For 18 years as an Air Force wife, moving at least 10 times, she would always welcome new families to the neighborhood with a casserole or sweet rolls. Then after settling down in Grandview in 1971 when Norm retired from the Air Force, she was known by neighbors, family and even her Doctors office staff as the “Sweet Roll Queen” because she shared her sweet rolls with everyone!
She loved roller coasters, sewing Halloween costumes and all our special event dresses.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, her parents, and her 3 sisters; Doris Sofaly, Betty Hilty and Evelyn Kaylor. She is survived by her children, Norman David Rifenburg and wife Barbara , Cynthia Marie Tiffany and husband Alan, Dianne Lynne Frazier and husband Brad; Grandchildren, Mindee Janelle Sharp, Justin Dean Haynes, Marie Hilda Johnson, Norman Jason Rifenburg, David Adam Rifenburg, Joseph Andrew Rifenburg, Robert Joshua Frazier, Lauren Kelsey Frazier; and 18 great grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank all her friends and church families of Grandview First Baptist and Blue River Bible Church for the love and friendships she has been blessed with over the years and where she has learned more about The Word of God and Charity. Mom loved you all!
