Mary Elizabeth Boyd
March 25, 1921 – August 19, 2012
Mary E. Boyd, 91, of Grandview, Mo., passed away August 19, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at McGilley & George Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 13000 Bennington Ave., Grandview. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society . Mary was born March 25, 1921, in Chillicothe, Mo., to Robert and Eugenia Rothwell Boulware. She came to Kansas City in 1942 to work for North American Aviation, where she meet her husband, John E. Boyd. Mary did volunteer work in the Air Force and was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 8100 where she played bingo for over 30 years. Preceded in death by husband, John in 1979, son, Charles "Pete" Boyd, sisters, Louise Collins and Dorothy O'Hare. Survived by son, John R. Boyd, Kansas City; daughter-in-law, Charlene Boyd, Belton Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Mary was so gracious to all of us in the neighborhood. She really cared about all the children running around and all of the families. In loving memory of a wonderful person and her life well lived.
