Betty Carpenter, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2021. She was born to Patrick Stegmaier and Sara Pottinger Stegmaier on September 5, 1922. Betty married Wilbur Carpenter during WWII in 1941. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and together had three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Truman and Bernard Stegmaier and two sisters Alice Lamb and Gloria Sikora, her son Larry Carpenter, daughter Wilma O’Connor and grandson John O’Connor. Betty is survived by her daughter Ann Jakobe, 4 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She worked at Lake City during the war and then worked in accounting for 27 years at Bendix in Kansas City. After she retired she purchased a small cabin at the lake of the Ozarks, making so many great memories for her family. The lake fun and traditions are still being passed down through generations today. Mom was a loving mother and grandmother and caregiver. She took care of whoever needed her at the time. She was a caregiver to her husband for many years before his death. We love and miss you Mom, Aunt Betty to many, Nanny to most. Celebration of Life will be at Presentation Catholic Church in Lee's Summit, MO on Thursday, June 10th. Visitation at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 11:00 am.

Our deepest condolences to Betty’s entire family. We only new her for a short time , in which we had many conversations and could always tell that she was a caring person.
Her smiling face will be missed on the Jakobe lake house deck.
God bless you all during this sad time.
