Olaf Louis “Ole” Holman, 84, of Grandview, MO passed away March 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Born July 14, 1935 in Sisseton, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Maynard and Garnett Holman.

Olaf left his family farm at the age of 14 to pursue a life of adventure. Over the next 5 years he would help build a steel bridge in Seattle, help excavate land over rattlesnake pits in Oregon, and race cars. At the age of 19 he met and married Bonnie Holman in Waterloo, Iowa. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska and had 5 children. In 1967 they moved to Stillwater, Minnesota where Olaf worked in a meat packing plant. In 1977 they moved to Grandview, MO where they would live for the rest of his life.

While their children were growing up Olaf and bonnie loved to bowl, play tennis, and square dance. Later in life, Olaf became an avid golfer, he and Bonnie would spend their retirement years squeezing in as many rounds every week as they could. He even got 3 holes in ones during the course of his life. They also loved playing cards, fishing, fixing things, and spending time with family. He managed to bring smiles and laughter to every room he entered and was always the first to offer a helping hand to any one in need.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie; son Harold; daughter Sherri and her husband Bill; 4 grandsons Sean, Marty, Ricky and Matthew; 4 granddaughters Sarah, Kelsey, Page and Christina; 4 great grandsons Conway, Evan, Memphis and Ryker; 6 great granddaughters Ashley, Clarinda, Savannah, Caitlyn, Corah and Lilith. He was also survived by 3 sisters Verna, Regina and Shirley.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Roy, Cecil and Leonard; 2 sisters Ella Mae and Doris; 3 of his children Marty, Ricky and Lisa. Contributions are suggested to the St. Catherine of Siena Parish food pantry.

Grandpa you will forever be missed. Thank you for everything you ever did for me. From driving me to and from school for over 7 years to helping take care of my little Savannah so I could finish school. I will always remember you and Grandma poking fun at each other, playing cards with you for hours, our longs walks around the neighborhood, shaving with you with a spoon, golfing in the father daughter tournaments, our trip to Seattle, and every other adventure we ever took together. You were the strongest man I ever knew and the funniest too. I pray I'm able to raise my kids to be like you, sarcasm and all. Love you King Olaf, save me a spot up there!
